How to Save For the Big Day

Half-Decent Proposal: Planning To Pop The Question In Record Time
Your wedding should be everything you want it to be, but we all have to work within the budgets we set ourselves. If you are thrifty enough and save wisely, you can afford to spend more on the exact dress you want, finding the right rings, or even that venue which took your breath away. There are some ways you can save beforehand by keeping these ideas in mind. Some forward planning and bit of willpower can go a long way. Here are some ideas that you and your partner can try to make your big day everything you want it to be, and everything you imagined and dreamt it would be.

Plan Your Weekly Food Shop to Save Money

If you don’t do already plan your meals for the week. This also means you are a bit more organised so you should have time to do all the planning and arranging that needs doing for your wedding. By planning your food shop, you save time and money. Write down what ingredients you need for each recipe, and do too many expensive or fancy meals each week! By knowing what you need and what you don’t you can save money by not buying unnecessary foods, just exactly what you need.

Why not get thrifty and source your own wedding decorations, instead of hiring a decorator to do the job? You will probably want things like fake bouquets and flowers which you can easily find second hand online. Weddings only happen once, then all the decorations are often sold on. Look online to find great deals, with high quality products that have barely been used. Source.

Cut Out Other Monthly Costs

Do you have a gym subscription that you never have time to use? Or do you subscribe to any magazines that never get read? It’s worth looking at the these monthly subscriptions that go out of your account each month, and that you often forget about. It’s so easy to subscribe to these kind of schemes and forget all about them. It’s also worth looking at your phone bill too, and seeing if you can find a more affordable monthly plan, at least until after the wedding. Don’t forget you amazon book subscriptions, or even your Sky tv. There are so many subscriptions that can be reduced or put on hold, at least until you’ve got a bit more cash to hand.

Taking Out Loans

Many people are taking out loans to fund their wedding these day. This way you can be assured that you will have as much money as you want to play around with, and get exactly what you want on your wedding day. By taking out secured loans, you use your house as collateral, and can borrow as little as £1000 to much much more. If you need you wedding to be exactly what you dreamt it to be, and want a faster way than weekly saving, this option might work for you.

Why not have your wedding outdoors? There might be some travel inconveniences, but this would be a great way to save money on a venue. Although you might want a picturesque church, nature can just as beautiful. Consider alternative venue options to save some more money. Source.

The Venue

Looking at the dates of the venue can be a good idea to cut back. Choosing a less expensive time of year might not be exactly what you want, but you could use the money saved to spend on the right wedding dress, or even the honeymoon, if this is a priority for you.

Not eating and Drinking Out as Much

We all like to go out and have fun, but it is amazing how much we can spend on these kind of expenses. Eating out less, or even eating and more affordable restaurants, could save you some cash. This goes for work lunches too. Instead of going out to buy lunch everyday of the week, save left overs from the night before, or make  your own packed lunch. Not having that extra beer at the pub, or not overdoing it on the coffee, is great to cut back unnecessary expenses. This means that you can have a lot more fun on your wedding day, which will definitely make up for all the self restraint in the previous months.

Planning a wedding can be stressful, but hopefully with these ideas, you can save yourself some money when planning your wedding, and in turn some peace of mind. Your Big day should be everything you want it to be.
