Vegetarian light up lip gloss with natural ingredients

Today I received a very exciting gift from my friend, Claire. She knows I LOVE make up, so she very kindly gave me one of her amazing aloe-inspired lip glosses to try out.

Now, this isn’t just any lip gloss. It’s packed full of aloe vera – the plant that has shown in studies to be one of the world’s most amazing plants with natural antibacterial properties and vitamin and mineral-rich substances that can ease skin conditions (more on this in the coming weeks). Creative beauty experts are using it to get gorgeous, too.

Flawless by Sonya, Luscious Lip Colour - Perfect PinkMmmmmmwah! On to the good stuff…

Let’s start with the impressive packaging. Like any luxury make-up brand, it’s look is glossy and chic, but boasts a mirror on one side of the outer casing. What good is a mirror when it’s dark on the dancefloor, I hear you ask…. WELL – they’ve thought of everything with this lip gloss. On the top of the gloss is a little button – with one click you light up the wand, which points light at your luscious lips so you can see where you’re applying the fabulous shimmery stuff.

Inside, you’ll find a lovely gloopy substance that is not only packed full of aloe vera, but vegetarian, gluten free and not tested on animals. This resonates with me, being a vegetarian and a lover of naturally inspired products.

This particular colour is Perfect Pink (426) and is a perfect combination of bright but sheer pink, heavily packed with glitter that attracts the light. We all know that glitter gives the appearance of plump, kissable lips, but they’ve really got the colour balance right with this lip gloss. It gives a gorgeous, natural slick of colour and sheen … this could be my new staple day to night gloss.

Something that I’m always testing in the shop before I buy is consistency of the gloss – I personally can’t stand really sticky lip glosses. This gloss actually has the right balance of longevity and consistency. It goes on, and it sticks, but you can still kiss cheeks without having to surgically remove yourself from them. You can also sip your champers without the need to reapply constantly and you won’t leave a mark on your glass.

I’ve been wearing this gloss all day, and my lips are happy and soft! With the aloe vera inclusion, this gloss is really moisturising and soothing. When you apply it, you can feel a very faint tingle which means the active ingredients are getting to work to soothe your lips and plump them.
