Recently I had the pleasure of attending two very good friend’s wedding in Ibiza. They moved out there late in 2009 and have been casually planning their sunshine and baths of booze filled wedding!
Apart from seeing two great friends get married in such an individual and emotional way, I loved the little touches that they brought to the day. Rosie is an art teacher in Ibiza and set her pupils the task of making little decorations such as glitter cardboard hearts, cute mini strings of bunting strung between the knobbly trees, flowers in tin cans and mismatched tables and chairs borrowed from Rosie’s school.
We watched the happy couple emotionally tie the knot at Santa Eularia Town Hall, and then were treated to the most delicious veggie buffet I have ever had the pleasure of tasting that Rosie’s mum made the day before the wedding. The food was served at Dan and Rosie’s apartment where we listened to the speeches and drank rather a lot of champers in the sun!
Later, after we had danced the day away, we were led to the nearby beach where the resident beach cafe served up the hugest paella I have ever seen after having a moonlight swim in the sea.
Handmade lanterns and candles were layed down to the sea from our tabled area on the sand which looked so romantic. We had the whole beach to ourselves and it felt very special. Throughout the day, one of Rosies best friends sang songs accompanied by Rosies Brother and Dad on their handmade mini instruments (so they could fit in hand luggage)!
Rosies brother Lawrence also made the awesome cake topper reflecting the couples main interests – breakdancing and surfing!
