So I have set the Lake Garda scene here, now for the ceremony!
We climbed the steps up to Malcesine’s castle turret and settled down in the scorching sun whilst a guitarist played some beautiful music that really fit the occasion. Matt stood nervously at the ‘alter’ that looked out on to The Lake for miles. It was such a clear day, I felt my skin burning with every minute that passed by! Having been cloudy the past few days leading up to the wedding, e all felt really pleased that the sun had put his hat on!
Claire arrived on a tuc tuc, and was lead to the top of the castle looking stunning. The tears started flowing from the moment the music started I think! After a beautiful and very heartfelt ceremony, and some lovely words by the Italian registrar, not that I could understand them, but we had an interpreter!!
After Matt and Claire became husband and wife, we gathered on the steps of the castle and threw confetti. There were lots of onlookers that cheered and joined in the clapping and confetti throwing, as the castle is also a historic landmark in that part of Lake Garda. Our stomachs started to rumble as we could smell the pizza cooking on the nearby shore, so we were led to eat and be merry by the lakeside where we then took a lovely Champagne boat trip to a nearby waterfall!
Part three will follow very soon! Watch this space!
